This is not the feel-good memoir of 2017.
It’s profane, grotesque, and unapologetic—like the author. Miss Kosloski writes about growing up on the East Coast in a style that can only be described as “white trash manifesto.” She was born in Baltimore City, delivered by an unlicensed midwife in an apartment above a pharmacy on South Broadway Street. The stories in the collection cover everything from living in a snake-infested basement to feeling soulless and being committed to a mental institution. It’s just like The Incredible Journey if the animals were people who did a lot of drugs and spoke with Baltimore accents.
